Push bar Panic Exit Device Repair & Rekeying in East Memphis, TN 38120

We recently completed a commercial door repair and rekeying project in East Memphis, TN 38120 at a multi-event center. The building was experiencing issues with its Arrow rim exit device on a narrow stile commercial door, where even when the handle was locked, pushing down would partially activate the push panic hardware, causing the door to unlock. This allowed unauthorized entry, which was a significant security concern for the client, especially in a high-traffic area used for various events. Additionally, the key for this commercial door was lost, and the client needed us to rekey the commercial locks because they had lost the key.

Upon arrival, we thoroughly inspected the fire exit device and identified that the problem stemmed from the lever handle trim malfunctioning. We recommended replacing the trim lever handle on the narrow stile door, which had a surface vertical rod exit device attached. Many companies would have suggested replacing the entire exit device, which can be very costly, but we knew a more affordable solution would work just as well. We sourced the required parts and quickly swapped out the faulty lever trim. Since we already had the door open, we also serviced the fire-rated push bar to ensure smooth operation and rekeyed the door to a new key for improved security and made the key from scratch.

Now, when the classroom function lock is engaged and the fire exit device isn’t dogged down, pushing or pulling the handle no longer compromises the door’s security. This fix not only resolved the mechanical issue but also brought the building up to fire code standards. The client was thrilled that they didn’t have to replace the expensive vertical rod system, and didn’t have to replace the whole panic hardware set! And the client appreciated our transparent pricing and swift turnaround.
