Today we received a call from a client in West Memphis, Arkansas, 72301, right across the I-40 bridge from Downtown Memphis, TN. They were having serious trouble with their commercial front door handle. The client mentioned, “The lock is too high for the door hole” and asked, “Can locksmiths fix doors that aren’t lining up to the hole on the side of the door?” They also asked, “Can you fix a door that’s not closing properly?“
We responded with confidence, “Yes, GI Locksmith can fix all types of door issues, including sagging doors, door hardware misalignment, latching issues, and more.“
Once we were able to evaluate the problem, we requested that the client send over some pictures and video for a more accurate quote. The footage showed that the old handleset was completely worn out, not latching properly, and that the door alignment was way off. Their deadbolt was also in poor shape due to years of high-volume use. Since this commercial facility has a lot of foot traffic, it was clear that this setup needed replacement.
We recommended switching to Schlage commercial-grade locks for better durability, but the client preferred to stick with the Kwikset front door lock set. They specifically wanted the new exterior door hardware in antique brass. So, we sourced and installed a Kwikset Camelot Antique Brass Single Cylinder Door Handleset with a right-handed accent handle. In addition to this, we installed a double cylinder deadbolt to ensure maximum security.
One of the key challenges during this job was addressing the sagging door. Over time, the exterior door’s alignment had shifted due to wear and tear, especially with heavy trim surrounding the hinges. Fixing a sagging door takes time and precision, but we were able to realign the door and complete the full installation of the new locksets. After everything was installed, the door not only latched securely, but it also opened and closed smoothly.
The client was thrilled with the results, and they loved how the new antique brass exterior door locks complemented the building’s aesthetic. They also appreciated the extra durability that comes with the double lock on the door and the improved alignment of the hinges.
This project is a great example of how we go above and beyond, not only replacing faulty door hardware but also addressing underlying issues like door sag that can lead to long-term damage if not fixed.
